Dr Marie Hay

Marie Hay is a Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University, with extensive of experience working in dance as part the Higher Education sector. Marie’s Doctoral research explored the relationship between speech and dance to perform the dancer’s sense of being, and she created the practice known as Speakingdance. This practice has been taught and performed internationally and is Marie’s focus of discussion in her co-edited book From Heidegger to Performance. Marie’s prior research interests centred on the assessment and feedback of dance technique in Higher Education, on which she also published. Marie has experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in addition to supervising PhD students, and has undertaken specific roles leading on recruitment, student experience and curriculum development in dance.
