Jo Breslin

Jo Breslin is a senior academic working in Choreographic and Dance Practice, and Dance Pedagogy - De Montfort University. She has held Subject / Programme Leadership roles; has been involved in the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study and continues to supervise MA research in performance making practice. She has been supported through Erasmus staff mobility to engage with community dance teaching practices in Oulu, Finland, and the DMU Global programme helped her initiate international links with festivals and dance programmes in Utrecht, Spring Dance and Kiev, Grinchenko University. She is a member in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Dance [CIRID] and DMU Visual Arts Research. Jo has worked as choreographer and movement director, and performer. Her professional practice has included a career touring and performing nationally across the UK with Glasshouses, then over two decades as an independent dance artist in practice research and performance. As a founder member 2014, she helped to establish, facilitate and perform with Quick Shifts , a collective of women interested to promote Improvisation in Performance in the East Midlands(ACE funded). She was an advisor on the first national BBC Performing Arts Awards supporting Dance across the UK; and was involved as subject assessor in Dance for QAA. She continues to engage with pedagogy in choreography - student engagement in co-creation in HE collaborative contexts.
